About the Event
The myth that only manufacturing firms benefit from Lean Six Sigma has been disproven time and time again but still lingers. Any organization that uses repeatable processes can apply Lean Six Sigma to become more efficient and productive. Non-profit organizations and service providers have learned that the efficiency and savings that Lean Six Sigma creates can help them do more good and impact more people with the resources at their disposal.
In January, 122 attendees heard Lorynda Bender, Director of Quality and Risk Management, share Hillside's journey to launch and sustain a successful LSS process improvement program at one of Rochester's largest human service non-profit agencies. Several attendees suggested that GRQC bring Hillside back for a deep dive into a few of those projects.
Shannon Ryan gained her Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification at Hillside in July 2020. Her certification project began in the Fall of 2019 and was completed just before the pandemic began. The certification project focused on the reduction of costs of records retention with Hillside vendor, Iron Mountain. Over the course of the two years of metric tracking, the project saved Hillside over $80,000. Shannon has since completed a Lean Six Sigma blitz on the accuracy of Strategic Partner contact information as well led a Lean Six Sigma 5S event. Shannon will share her experiences with applying Lean Six Sigma on these projects at Hillside. Whether your organization is in manufacturing or services, you will find the tools and processes that Shannon describes to be applicable in your environment.
