About the Event

The Greater Rochester area is recognized as one of the country’s top cities for food. Rochester features a vibrant and diverse food and restaurant industry, recognized nationally for its quality and innovation. It's known for both its affordable options such as the iconic Garbage Plate, and also for many high-end fine dining establishments. Also, the region is a hub for food and beverage manufacturing. Overall, the region’s food and restaurant industries have experienced strong growth in recent years, and have emerged as a top industry employing thousands of local residents.

This program will highlight the ways in which food quality is assured. A review of potential food safety problems will be followed by a review of the keys to building safety in through contamination control and robust food safety management systems. The program will then shift to the importance of third party inspection and verification, including the role of state and county authorities in assuring good, safe practices. The keys to food quality and safety will be seen as universally relevant to all products, industries and organizations.
